Auburn Public Theater and Cayuga Community College will team this summer to offer a new Young Filmmakers Camp. Children ages 11 to 18 are invited to the camp, where they will make a film in one week using facilities at the college at the theater. Subjects to be covered include digital video cameras, non-linear editing, lighting, directing and storytelling. Children will also work with media professionals in writing, directing and producing. The camp runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 8-12 for sixth, seventh and eighth graders, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 15-19 for high-school grades. There is a limit of 20 students per class. The theater will also offer a “Phantom of the Opera” Musical Theater Camp from July 22 through July 27. The first five days of the camp will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn, where participants in grades 3-12 can learn scenes from the musical and perform a showcase for friends and family Friday. • Also taking place at the theater will be Exchange Street Records Camp July 29 through Aug. 3. Participants in grades 7-12 will learn about playing in a rock band and writing music from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday, then perform with Perform 4 Purpose on the theater’s Main Stage Saturday.
