A documentary about an avante garde legend will make its central New York debut in Auburn Tuesday, Jan. 31.

“Tony Conrad: Completely in the Present” will be screened at 7 that night at Auburn Public Theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn.

The film covers the life and work of Conrad, an early collaborator with the Velvet Underground whose films and musical compositions have made him an influence on generations of artists. It combines intimate footage of Conrad and his collaborators shot over the past 20 years with his own archives and interviews with fans.

Conrad went on to teach at SUNY Buffalo. The screening will be followed by a Q-and-A with two of Conrad’s former students, Richard Kegler and Auburn City Councilor Terry Cuddy. Conrad passed away in April 2016.

Admission to the event is $10.
