Charities throughout Cayuga County, with missions ranging from assisting the homeless to supporting a planetarium, received more than $70,000 in grants from the Cayuga Community Fund.

The Cayuga Community Fund provided a total of $70,245 in grant awards to 22 nonprofit groups serving Cayuga County residents, including organizations like the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, the Seward House Museum and more, the fund announced in a release Monday.

The Food Bank of CNY received the largest single amount, $8,300, in order to hire an outreach coordinator for its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program in the county.
