JUNE 2-5, 2016 AT AUBURN PUBLIC THEATER

New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA) in partnership with the New York State Council on the Arts’ State & Local Partnerships program is pleased to announce the launch of the Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp, a series of professional development programs for the arts communities in Catskill, Western and Central New York. This is the first year of a three year commitment to provide Boot Camps throughout New York State. For the coming year, the partner host sites include Arts Services Initiative of Western New York, Auburn Public Theater, and Roxbury Arts Group. The Boot Camps will rotate to new host sites and regions in subsequent years.Customized for each location, the Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp is an intensive, multi-day professional development opportunity that delves into the fundamental principles of sustainability in the arts. Topics featured include finance, law, marketing, and fundraising. Additional material is drawn from NYFA’s popular textbook “The Profitable Artist” (Allworth Press, 2011).

The Boot Camp’s structure is a blend of formal lectures, breakout groups, and one-on-one meetings. Participants work through a flexible and dynamic “action plan,” that provides a blueprint for their future project, career, and business goals. Each participant receives specific feedback from experts in the field, as well as their peers.

There is no charge to participate in the Artist as Entrepreneur Boot Camp. Artists interested in attending are required to apply and participants are selected through a panel review process. Artists of all disciplines and career stages are encouraged to apply.

Concurrent with the Boot Camp program, at each location NYFA will provide a session offering training in leadership to arts administrators. In addition, NYFA staff will also organize and conduct evening presentations for artists on NYFA’s Programs, Resources, and Services.  Both sessions will be free and open to the public.

All programs are offered free-of-charge to participants.
