2nd Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser

May 16, 2012

Play. Eat. Laugh.

No, it’s not a best-selling memoir.

It’s what you and your golf buddies can do at the 2012 Auburn Public Theater Golf Tournament and Comedy Show.

The event is a major annual fun- and fund-raiser for Auburn Public Theater. All proceeds will support shows, youth classes and theater operations at APT.

The second annual golf-and-guffaws classic will be held at Owasco Country Club on Friday, June 29. Following the nine-hole tournament, participants will head to the clubhouse for cocktails, steak dinner, and a stand-up comedy show. Headliner Andy Pitz is one of the theater’s most popular entertainers. A 40- something husband and newly minted dad, Pitz delivers smart, nonstop laughs. Spiciness rating – mild-to-medium.

Hole prizes and 50-50 raffle winnings will be awarded during the evening, and the winner of the Jersey Boys Broadway Getaway drawing will be announced. The prize package for this raffle includes two tickets to Jersey Boys in August on Broadway, with an overnight stay at the Dream Hotel on Times Square and dinner for two at Marble Lane Restaurant.

Tickets for the Jersey Boys Broadway Getaway raffle can be purchased from Janie@auburnpublictheater.org (or call 315-253-6669) for $5 each or 25 for $100. The winner need not be present to win.

Check-in for golfers will begin at 2:00 p.m., with a shotgun start for the four-person scramble at 3:00 p.m. Last year’s comedy headliner, Vinnie Mark, will visit this year as the “hole four mulligan man.” Golfers who buy a strip of 50-50 raffle tickets at that hole can compete with Vinnie, a scratch golfer, for best ball and, with his help, may even bring their team’s hole score down by a stroke or two.

Golfers can register for the tournament by calling 315-253-6669 or sending the registration form.  The cost for the nine-hole tournament (cart included), dinner and show is $100 per entrant. Partial teams and solos are welcome, and there are sponsorship opportunities for area businesses and professionals.

Non-golfing guests are welcome to reserve seats for the dinner and show, and to enjoy the cocktail hour. Tickets for the evening are $50 each.
