A screening of a drug addiction and recovery awareness film is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Auburn Public Theater.

The documentary, called “Reversing the Stigma,” was produced by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) and the state Media Service Center. It is narrated by TV journalist Laurie Dhue, who has hosted programs on Fox News, CNN and MSNBC, according to an OASAS press release.

During the hour-long film, Dhue speaks about her own struggle with addiction and tells the real-life stories of other New Yorkers in various stages of recovery. The purpose of the documentary is to examine the stigma surrounding addiction.
