When stand-up comedian Paul Elia performed at Auburn Public Theater a little over a year ago, it was his first one-hour set.

So when the 30-year-old performs there again this weekend, he thinks audiences will see a difference.

“It was my first time listening to myself for an hour,” he said in a phone interview Wednesday. “And obviously I needed a lot of work.”

The Detroit-born Elia, who has performed on “Conan,” toured with Dana Carvey and acted on Marvel’s “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” also looked back on his last visit to Auburn with a comic lens.
