From The Citizen: Musician with Salvaged Instruments to Perform Show in Auburn

Found sounds are the domain of the next musician coming to Auburn Public Theater. The Suitcase Junket will perform at 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 21, at the theater, 8 Exchange St., Auburn.

Artist Matt Lorenz performs solo using 1950s amplifiers, a guitar he salvaged from a dumpster and a suitcase he plays with his heel like a bass drum. His debut album for Signature Sounds, “Pile Driver,” features rock anthems, ballads, blues and more played on instruments fashioned from broken bottles, gas cans, dried bones and other scraps.

Tommy Sniffen, a singer-songwriter from Syracuse, will open the show.
