Durante!

Grover Kemble returns to the APT Stage with “DURANTE!” A nostalgic jaunt through the life of American singer, actor, comedian, and popular entertainer, Jimmy Durante. Performances are Jul. 12 at 2 p.m., Jul. 13 at 2 p.m., and Jul. 14 at 8 p.m. The show is packed with Durante’s gravelly speech, butchered comic language, and one-liners. Grover Kemble is supported by Tim Metz on bass and Regun Ryzuk on piano. Ryzuk has composed music for more than 500 television programs and films with such credits as Kissing Jessica Stein, 60 Minutes and American Idol. He has recorded for The Wu Tang Clan, Russell Simmons and Quincy Jones, to name a few. Grover Kemble has toured nationally with the novel group Sha-Na-Na, and as a solo singer-songwriter. Bassist Tim Metz has been playing professionally since he was 12 years old, and has played wide-ranging venues from small jazz clubs to sold out shows at Carnegie Hall. The trio plays selections from Durante’s ragtime jazz hits and the softer, nostalgic ballads which endeared him to legions of fans during a career spanning over 60 years.
