In the mood for summer tunes? Music in the week ahead ranges from righteous reggae to international jazz and folk.
Folk singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist Rhiannon Giddens is perhaps best known for her work with the Grammy award-winning string band, The Carolina Chocolate Drops. Giddens possesses a powerhouse voice and a soul-stirring penchant for playing the fiddle and banjo. Rhiannon Giddens has teamed up with Italian jazz musician Francesco Turrisi to create the album, “There Is No Other,” which emphasizes the connections between cultures. Together, Giddens and Turrisi takes audiences on a whirlwind tour across the world, highlighting the rich musical cultures of Africa, the Middle East, Europe, and the Americas.
