Grammy-winning singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Rhiannon Giddens is coming to Central New York.

Giddens will perform with jazz musician Francesco Turrisi at the Irene A. Bisgrove Theatre at Cayuga Community College in Auburn, N.Y., on Thursday, July 11 at 8 p.m. The concert will feature a “musical voyage of discovery from Africa and the Middle East across to Europe and the Americas,” blending gospel, jazz, blues, country and folk with contemporary Americana sounds.

Tickets are $45 in advance through the Auburn Public Theater and $55 at the door.

Giddens is a singer, violinist, banjo player and founding member of the old-time music band Carolina Chocolate Drops, which won a Grammy Award for best traditional folk album in 2011. The group notably put traditional spins on modern songs, covering artists like Blu Cantrell (“Hit ‘Em Up Style (Oops)”) and Run-DMC (“You Be Illin’”).
