Auburn Public Theater and the Auburn Doubledays are teaming up to present a new event: The Auburn BlueJazz Festival.

Taking place Saturday, Sept. 23, at Falcon Park on North Division Street, the festival will be headlined by blues rock legends Savoy Brown. Led by guitarist Kim Simmonds, the band is celebrating the 50th anniversary of the release of its first album, “Shake Down.” Members of Savoy Brown have gone on to be part of Foghat, Fleetwood Mac, The Kinks and more.

The festival will begin at 1 p.m. with a set by The Exchange Street Records Band, the band of Auburn Public Studio’s rock ‘n’ roll camp. Following from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. will be Carrie Lazarus’ Extraordinary Talent Jazz Band, introduced by the former news anchor, then The Funky Blu Roots from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. and Peter Mack & The Macktet from 5 to 6:15 p.m.
