Welcome to the blog of APT’s Fall 2017 Marketing Intern, Mecca Brooks! Mecca will share her reflections on the amazing artists performing live in Auburn this season. You never know who you’ll see at the Auburn! We hope you enjoy this installment of Mecca’s blog @ APT.
It’s that time again! I saw Mr. Jaxn and Tammy Pescatelli a few weekends ago and it was great! They were very candid and honest, which of course I love in a comedian. I think it’s important to be as transparent to your audience as possible. Comedy is a gateway into someone’s life and mind. I didn’t film because she is filming a special soon and didn’t want to spoil any of her jokes!
Mr. Jaxn opened and I was happy to see a new face! His jokes were a little racy, but that’s okay! His jokes really hit the mark, and everyone was on board with what he was saying. He told jokes about being black and I feel like the audience got what he was trying to say without laughing at him, but laughing with him.
Of course, Tammy Pescatelli was great! She did do some jokes that I saw on her Netflix special “Find the Funny.” The best part is she evolved the joke into something really solid and great. She has a new Netflix Special recording soon. She was super sweet when I talked to her briefly and I felt so bad that she was bombarded with pictures when she was in a hurry. Tammy also handled hecklers like a CHAMP. Honestly, she held her own and I’m so glad a female comedian can hold her own and is funny without trying to be “one of the guys”. I really appreciate her as a person and as a comedian. Keep your eyes peeled for the rest of APT’s great comedy line up this spring!
